It has been too long since I've updated my blog. I blame this on Hebrew II, Sytematics Theology I, Historical Theology II and CPE. Ultimately, I have taken an extended vacation from the issues of the Church and the world. Now, let's see what's going on.
The House of Bishops meets this week in New Orleans. Will this be a decisive moment in the history of the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church? Yes, I think that is a safe bet.
Will this be THE decisive moment, the final straw dropped upon an overburdened camel? That is hard to say, but it is clear that there are several dioceses that are prepared to take prompt action following the conclusion of the meeting.
The hope is that the House of Bishops will alter the progressive rampage of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America over the doctrines and traditions of the Wider Anglican Communion.
Will this happen? We can and should pray that it will.
Whatever the outcome, we must remember that our primary mission is to bring the Word to a world that is in desperate need of Christ - the Light that illumines this darkened world.
We must continue to preach and teach the Good News of Christ Crucified to all the nations of the peoples of the world.
We must also redouble our efforts to educate and enlighten the people who are already in the pews so that they can know and experience the Church, which is the Body of Christ.
We must be prepared to plant churches, welcome new members and impassion the faithful.
Please pray for the Church. Pray for our Bishops. Pray for peace within Christ's Church.
Your Brother in Christ,
Michael W. Millard
